Best Keyboard for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4

/ by

Everyone can agree, the Microsoft Surface Pro should come with a keyboard. Its actually really difficult to use without one. You’re not going to be able to use your Surface pro to its fullest without a keyboard. But which keyboard should you buy?

What is the best keyboard for the Surface Pro 4?

The type cover is definitely the best keyboard for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. It attaches nicely to your device and is compatible with the UAG Surface Pro case/cover (Read the review here).

The Type Cover is Portable:

The type cover is extremely portable and can be easily stored with your Surface Pro. Whether you need to store it away at the end of the night, or you need to transport it in a carrying case, the type cover for the Surface Pro is easily the most convenient keyboard to have on hand.

It Is A Keyboard and Cover for Your Microsoft Surface Pro:

When you’re not using your Surface Pro, the keyboard can be flipped over the screen to act as a covering.

You Only Have One Item to Carry Around:

One of the problems with using a USB or a bluetooth keyboard instead of the Surface Pro Type Cover is that when you’re transporting your device, or you need to use it on a train or in a restaurant, you’re dealing with two separate devices: the Surface Pro tablet and the wireless keyboard. It just becomes more of a burden to carry both around. The Surface Pro Type Cover magnetically attaches to your Surface Pro, so whenever you need to set the device aside, all you need to to is close it up and put it away.

It Comes with a Track Pad:

The Type Cover has a built in track pad, so there is no need to buy a separate mouse or use the touch screen when you have the Type Cover connected. If you were to use a wireless keyboard, you would likely need to buy a wireless mouse as well.

Do I Need a USB or Bluetooth Keyboard for my Surface Pro?

While the Type Cover is Sufficient, I do recommend having a wireless keyboard and mouse (USB or blutooth) for your home office.

When Using Two Displays:

If you have an external monitor for your Microsoft Surface Pro, having a USB or Bluetooth wireless keyboard might be ideal. This way you can position your keyboard in front of the larger display, instead of awkwardly leaning over to type on the type cover.

The home office is the best place to use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for your Surface pro, and they can actually help to maximize productivity in a way that the type cover cannot always do; however, when you’re traveling or anywhere other than your home office, the Type Cover is ideal.
